    Have a customer who has reported the following:
    
    Problem Description: DOWNINE LOAD command fails using DEMFA circuit.
    
            Last night we attempted to upgrade a DECBRIDGE 610 with the
    latest
            version of microcode.
            The following command worked fine:
    
            DOWNLOAD SHOW DEVICE ether_address /CONTROLLER=FXA0:
    
            However, attempting to do the update failed:
    
            DOWNLOAD LOAD/CONFIRM/LOG ether_address /CONTROLLER=FXA0:  -
                     MOM$SYSTEM:6XX_V13D.SYS
            %NDU-I-SET_DLU_TRUE - Setting RBMS DLU switch to TRUE
            %SYSTEM-F-DEVREQERR,  device request error
    
            As a last ditch effort, I tried using our unused ethernet
            adapter (EXA0:) instead of the FDDI adapter (FXA0:), and it
    worked!
    
            DOWNLOAD LOAD/CONFIRM/LOG ether_address /CONTROLLER=EXA0:  -
                     MOM$SYSTEM:6XX_V13D.SYS
    
               There were no documented restrictions about this not working
            on a DEMFA, we were lucky we still have our DEMNA!
            (Note that NDU does talk to a DEMFA successfully when updating
            the microcode on the DEMFA itself!).
    
            The versions of the components involved:
                    VMS V5.5-2
                    with new FXDRIVER X-24 (link date 26-Mar-1993)
                    DEMFA uCode V1.4
                    DECndu V2.0
    
    
    Is this a known problem or should I escalate this call ?

	We regard to .0 we also wish to state that the DEMFA had DECnet, LAT, LAVc, MOP, LOOP, etc running on it whereas the DEMNA only had LAVc running on it when the problem mentiond in .0 occured. Alphonse

	I have seen DEVREQERR in our internal system after we installed DECnet/OSI. The DECREQERR occures even if we disable MOP client on the FXA device. I have never seen that before DECnet/OSI is installed. I used DECndu V1.2 ,V2.0 and DEMFA V1.4 ,V2.0. I saw same error at any combination above. I attempted it with DECndu-Plus but I got another internal error of ndu-P. It seems to me a problem of DECndu-P itself because it is not SSB. Is there any net-kit for ssb version? Naoki

	I have the same problem at a customer site, NDU V2.0. Have anyone verified that NDU V3.0 is working, updating DEFCN via a DEMFA? Thanks, Nils.

	I have never ever been able to get anything that uses MOPRC on a DEMFA. The DEFMA steals all MOPRC packets on input so the host never gets them.

	Hi, I'm trying to instal DECnduplus for OpenVMS on two different systems running VMS 5.5-2 and VMS 6.1. On both system the installation process fails with the following error messages %LINK-F-OPENIN, error opening SYS$COMMON:[SYSLIB]UCX$IPC.OLB; as input %RMS-E-FNF, file not found Since I don't have UCX installed, is that required? Where,if available, can I find any DECnduplus documentation on the net? How I have to upgrade DEMFA firmware on VAX9XXX systems? Is possible to temporary entering the Console Mode via CTRL-P and execute ">>>SET XMI_UPDATE ON" when the VMS is running? Is DECnduplus just the only way to Update DEMFA FW?
