I have a customer who wishes to have a redundant FDDI path from both his VAX 6610 system and his VAXstation 4000/90. Since neither system supports the DAS card, my thinking is to add two SAS cards to each system instead. If I do this will I achieve the same type of functionality? Will I need to upgrade the systems to DECnet Full function? My plan is to connect these systems to DECconcentrator 900's which are then connected to the ring in the dechub 900 backplane.

Two SAS actually gives you more than a dual-homed DAS -- since everything is duplicated, not just the physical layer part. As for the software etc. consequences, they are exactly the same as if you were building a system with two Ethernet adapters. paul | |||||

The VAX 4000-90 only has one Turbochannel slot. |
