HI everybody
Has anyone useing Chipcom FDDI products out there come
across problems such as this.
Customer has two Chipcom 17-slot online hubs, each with rctl modules
in slots 1. He has added to each hub a 5302M-MGT1 module (FMM management
module) and has found that one of the cards fails its selftest and doesn't
communicate with its console.
He then decided to instal two 5308M-FIB-ST modules (FDDI module
cards) he installed them into hub with working FMM and all seen ok.
he then installed them in hub with faulty FMM card and this seems to have
blown away the fddi modules because they no longer work correctly in either
hubs. they powerup and go into a state where status,port 8 and dowlineload
LEDS are permanantly alight. And is not seen to be in hub from working FMM
card.
We are in the proccess of proving whether the problem lies with
the FMM card corrupting the FDDI cards EEPROMS/FLASHROMS or the backplain
of hub with faulty FMM card.
But we would like to hear from anybody with simular problems.
