We have an fddi ring with 2 DECbridges 520 and 2 DECbridges 620. The ring also has some fddi connected stations. When one of the 520's becomes the ring purger the data transfer from an ethernet connected to one of the 620's to a fddi station becomes extremely slow. Any problems known with the 520's? -Geert-

Is that the same problem reported in the Usenet newsgroup comp.dcom.lans.fddi, involving an SGI Challenge (?) box? I posted a reply there. It sounds like a problem on that box, since the ring purger works the same on all Digital products. (It is implemented in the MAC chip, which is the same for all.) Could you find out what sort of address matching the Challenge device uses? I wonder if it has some kind of "imperfect" filter (hash filter) that makes it receive the ring purger messages from one of our nodes, but not from the others. paul | |||||

Thanks for the reply. What's the number of the article or the correct title? -Geert- |
