1216.0. "DB6xx intermittent Ethernet NI3 module failure" by ZUR01::HOTZ (Gregor; MCS, NaC Support, Schweiz) Thu Jan 27 1994 09:36
I know of 3 intermittent DB6xx problems during 1993 here in the german
speaking part of switzerland. The symptoms always were unsolicited
resets. They happend every few hours if an ethernet was connected to
line 3, once a day if the same lan was connected to line 2 or 4.
Swapping the 3-port ethernet card solved the problem. (firmware ~1.?)
Again, we have 2 bridges with 3-port ethernet card problems. This time
with Port module state = Broken, and Port broken reason = Probable
internal fault. (both firmware 1.3B) The one inhouse has a solid problem,
even with loopback connector, the one at a customer site is intermittent.
Do we just have bad luck with these cards, or are they known to fail
more often then the other cards?
Our 3-port module has s/n AS23100946, rev A01.
