No. I have been told that when configuring the DC900 in a
Hub, that in order to supply SNMP management to the hub,
that I must install a card with an IP Address also. Such
as the DECserver900.

| Hi Patrick,
You might want to put this in ENGINE::HUB_MGNT conference. I don't know if the
DC900 will have IP Services for the MAM although I have heard they may put it in
all future MAX (900) modules.
Re:.-1 The DECserver 900TM does not have IP services even though it does have an
IP address. You must use a DECrepeater 900TM currently.

| Re .1: I wonder if this is correct. My understanding is that all (big) modules
are supposed to implement IP services.

| paul,
I just tried my DS900TM just before I wrote the note to make sure, I could not
set it up on the DS900TM via the SETUP port on the DH900. But it works fine when
I set it up on the DR900TM.

1201.5 | Clarification... | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO, DTN:367-6463, KB4FFE, SouthEast | Wed Jan 12 1994 10:30 | 8 |
| I spoke with Steve Allen (marketing) who told me that as he understood
it, If I was to configure a DEChub900 with DECconcentrator modules only
(for instance to build a large FDDI distribution point) that I couldn't
manage it currently, without adding a DECrepeater900 module for the IP
services to HubWatch.

1201.6 | IP Services is in the DC900 | PRSSOS::GROSSETETE | | Wed Jan 12 1994 12:21 | 15 |
| Hi,
I just cross-posted the original note (.0) in hub_mgnt. I got
the confirmation that the DECconcentrator 900 will act as an IP
services module.
I am still looking for the other answers
I would like to add an other question :
. since we don't support anymore RBMS protocol in our FDDI products,
how could we get a FDDI map from MCC if we only have new products ?
If not possible, is there any plan to do it from SNMP ?
