Could someone please provde some answers to these fddi questions for my telco customer? -- cheers, Guy I N T E R O F F I C E M E M O R A N D U M Date: 06-Oct-1993 09:37 MDT From: George Durell GEORGE DURELL@5=MRXGATE@3=SASKTEL400@2=TELECOM.CANADA@1=CA@MRX_ENVOY@TROU01@CAX Dept: MRXGATE Tel No: TO: barnabe ( GUY BARNABE@RZO ) Subject: FDDI Questions *** WARNING *** This is X.400 mail, which might have originated outside your organization. Keep this in mind if you answer this message. Guy: Could you get the following information for me please. For the Single mode optics on DEC FDDI equipment (Concentrator 500): What is the transmit ouput power level? What is the receiver sensitivity (min power level to operate)? What is the receiver overload (max power level)? Is the fiber that is on the card (receive side, from the connector to the photodiode) single or multi mode? Apparently, most of our single mode transmission equipment uses multi mode on the receive side of the card because of lower losses in the interface to the photodiode. This allows us to use a lower cost multimode attenuator. Thanks. George Durell SaskTel

For the Single mode optics on DEC FDDI equipment (Concentrator 500): What is the transmit ouput power level? -8.0 dBm minimum What is the receiver sensitivity (min power level to operate)? -30.0 dBm minimum What is the receiver overload (max power level)? -14.0 dBm Is the fiber that is on the card (receive side, from the connector to the photodiode) single or multi mode?
