I have a question about MIB-counters on a DECconcenctrator 500. Using MIB-I and MIB-II, you can get information from the interfaces of a DECconcentrator 500. Now I wonder what the fields ifInOctets and ifOutOctets gives me? you have these counters for every port on the DECconcentrator 500. Do the counters count up every Octet of every frame that is passing through each interface? Does this then mean that every octet of every frame on the ring is counted up in these counters? I would have thought ifxxx counters apply to the MAC, not the port. In any case, they refer to packets addressed to the concentrator, not to traffic that's only passing through. paul |
