My name is Andy Pragnell I work the the Reading Service centre Networks team. Responsible for support our LAN and FDDI backbone. I seem to be experiencing problems inparticular with our DECbridge 610's. On several occasions we have had power failures to these bridges and they lockup. The problems that occur are that the AP (Application Processor) card selftest fails or the FI (Fibre Interface) card also fails its selftest. The only features I am setting up on the bridge is giving it an IP Address and setting up the management switches. If I set the bridge back to factory settings and reboot, more often than not it passes its selftest and starts functioning again. Can anyone give an explaination to why this is happening. Regards, Andy

1088.1 | try re-seating the boards... | ASDS::LEVY | Tue Sep 14 1993 14:21 | 5 | |
Have you tried re-seating the AP and FI boards (and perhaps cleaning their connectors)? You might have some intermittent connections, with the reset-to-defaults behavior being a spurious correlation. |
