1085.2 | It was Timeplex problem. | TKTVFS::IDO | Naoki Ido, CSC/TOKYO, EWB, DTN 680-2456 | Mon Sep 20 1993 06:05 | 17 |
| Hi all,
I had a on site to look into Timplex's problem. The original problem was that
physical connection was not completed between Timeplex Concentrator32 and our
Alpha/OSF1 1.2a with a defza. So, Green LED in both sides were blinking but
not on stable. The cause was Timplex and M-ports didn't activate when A-B port
didn't have any neighbors.
An engineer from Timplex couldn't exactly explain why M-port couldn't
activate but It might be something failure on hardware or software setting.
After physical connection completed, I found another problem that OSF1 could
not initiate the defza interface to RUNNING when ifconfig was initiated.
This problem was seen only alpha connected into M-port on Timplex concentrator32
but DEFZA then detected the Duplicate address test failure.
I'll post this problem to another note for the later referece.
