1082.0. "DECNET/OSI <-> DecNDU ?" by HOO78C::RIETKERK (Bart Rietkerk-Hoogeveen-Holland) Wed Sep 08 1993 16:33

    Hello,

    Can anybody fill in the blanks for me?

    Does (the latest version of) DecNDU run on a VAX running VMS + Decnet/OSI?
    (not Decnet/OSI extentions, phase IV, but real DECNET/OSI phase V; 5.6)

    Tnx in advance,

    Bart.

DECndu does not use DECnet is any form. Therefore it shouldn't matter.

1082.3Do Disable MOP.TKTVFS::IDONaoki Ido, CSC/TOKYO, EWB, DTN 680-2456Thu Sep 09 1993 12:174
You can use DECndu on VMS system even it has been configured as a
DECnet/OSI's ES, but you may be required to disable MOP when you use DECndu.

1082.4and the syntax....HOO78C::RIETKERKBart Rietkerk-Hoogeveen-HollandThu Sep 09 1993 16:3219

    Thanks, Naoki,

    I found this out already. Now for the interested listeners:

    SYNTAX (Don't quote me as I didn't have a chance to verify or test)

    Old:
    NCP> set circuit xxxx service disabled

    should go under OSI now

    NCL> disable MOP circuit xxxxx {func yyyyyy}

    	No more details available yet.

    Thanks all for the reply's.

The "yyy" (in { func yyy } ) is "load server".

Then again, there isn't any real reason to do this in DECnet/OSI, since the
MOP implementation there was done right and doesn't bring your system to its
knees the way the old one did at times.

1082.6All clear now. Thanks!!HOO78C::RIETKERKBart Rietkerk-Hoogeveen-HollandMon Sep 13 1993 05:389

    Paul,

    Thanks for the reply. The picture is clear for me now. Bottom line is
    there shouldn't be any problems, not even in case of MOP download
    requests, since the MOP inplementation on phase V is better than on
    phase IV. Thanks again all for your answers.

    Bart.
