I am working on custom quotes for clinical imaging systems. Such images are typically very large (up to 8mbytes before compression). The solutions we are looking at involve image viewing stations comprising third party high resolution display controllers on PC workstations, connected to 5000 model 240 servers with optical and jukebox storage capability. Because the images are so big it would seem make a lot of sense to use FDDI. Is anyone aware of any FDDI products for the PC which run under MS DOS/Windows.? Thanks very much, Richard

>>Is anyone aware of any FDDI products for the PC which run under >>MS DOS/Windows.? Yes. We currently sell the DEC FDDIcontroller/EISA (DEFEA) which is an EISA-bus FDDI adapter containing device drivers for DOS, OS/2, NetWare 3.11/4.0 server and client, and Windows NT (Intel & Alpha AXP). If you're selling an EISA-bus platform (eg. DECpc ST or MTE series), you should consider the DEFEA. The DEFEA comes in single-attach (DEFEA-AA) or dual-attach (DEFEA-DA) configurations. An unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) version is currently in field test. The product manager for the DEFEA is Sharon (DELNI::ONEILL) Oneill. - Larry |
