1069.0. "VME FDDI???" by SAHQ::TROTTER () Mon Aug 23 1993 15:56

I have a customer who is looking for a VME FDDI interface. The old
FDDI PID mentioned one from DEC but I don't think it got funded.
Also any idea on the performance of the VME FDDI interface would be
    appreciated.

Digital did not do a VME FDDI adapter. Other vendors do have them, but I do
not currently have a list of them. My impression was that VME adapters would
never be the top performers (but then again we have QBUS adapters as well).

According to the August 23, 1993 issue of Communications Week, the
following companies produce FDDI VME controllers:

    	CMC Network Products/Rockwell International Corp.
    		Santa Barbara, CA 800-262-8023
        Computer Network Technology Corp.
    		Minneapolis, MN 612-550-8800
    	Interphase Corp.
    		Dallas, TX 214-919-9000
    	Network Peripherals Inc.
    		Milpitas, CA 408-321-7300
    	SBE Inc.
    		San Ramon, CA 800-925-2666
    	Vista Controls Corp.
    		Valencia, CA 805-257-4430

No recommendations on any of these products, since I've never worked
with them. Note that none of the East coast networking companies are
    listed...interesting.
