1025.0. "6000 and 7000 directly via FDDI" by ODIXIE::RICHARDSON (Are we there yet??) Wed Jul 14 1993 13:35

Can a 7000 and a 6000 be connected back to back via FDDI without
    going through a concentrator?

Is the concentrator more than just a "DELNI like" device so devices
need to be attached to it, or, like a DELNI, is it more of a FDDI in a
    box?

there is nothing else in the network.. just these 2 devices.

    Thanks

Yes. S-to-S connections (via fiber) are always valid.

Re .1 can you please explain for my own understanding.

Wouldn't you need some sort of a crossover ?

Does the BN24B-xx (which is the FDDI-MIC to FDDI-MIC) cable have the
	TX to RCV crossover ?

I was under the impression the the DEFCN-N* or DEFCN-H* FDD-MIC 4 or
6 port card does the TX to RCV changeover. Here we use the BN24B cable between
DEMFAs and DEFCN ports. So according to .1 the cable for direct S-to-S port
connection may not be BN24B. What is it then ?

	Please explain.

The MIC-MIC cables do contain a cross-over. This is necessary to
connect to anything (station or concentrator).

But there are problems (features?) of the VMS FDDI device driver which
might cause you problems. I think this is being (or has been) addressed.
But I don't know which versions of what s/w include the improvements.
