1009.0. "Twisted Ring with ChameLan 100" by PRSSOS::GROSSETETE () Fri Jul 02 1993 08:12
Hi,
Using a Tekelec ChameLan 100 FDDI analyzer, I noticed
the following.
If you incorrectly connect you ChameLan 100 to a
DECconcentrator 500, let's say :
Port A => Port A
Port B => Port B
Tekelec ChameLan 100 still announces its PHY Port, not
as it really is, but as it must be :
ChameLan 100 PhyPort A connected on DEFCN PhyPort A
ChameLan 100 announced PhyPort B
ChameLan 100 PhyPort B connected on DEFCN PhyPort B
ChameLan 100 announced PhyPort A
Status and values have been observed from DECmcc ELM
DEFCN LED's are fixed green but ChameLan 100 is
not able to see SMT messages since the primary ring is twisted
on the secondary.
This may have a serious impact on the ring operation, so
take care if you using a ChameLan 100.
