| In talking with my customers, standard bridges are dead. What everyone
wants are Brouters. I'm working with two customers right now planning
on buying separate boxes to provide brouter capabilities for
their mixed FDDI/Ethernet networks.
A bridge in a hub is nice but most customers today don't believe
bridges provide them the control they need. Also, most bridges cost the
same as a BRouter.

| Such a bridge (or rather, as .1 points out, a BRouter) is very definitely
planned, and work is well underway.
