My last probe into this found that DECNDU was not going to be ported to
    OpenVMS AXP.

Why do you need it - to load firmare into a DEMFA?

Strange. (Perhaps you could just run it through the translator...)

I believe it's a matter of just compiling it and linking it because
from what I remember it was written in C. So it should not require
    any code changes.

My understanding of the situation is that some other product will be
used to load new firmware so NAC wants to spend no more effort on
NDU. Or ... the final decision on which product will be used to load
firmware has not been made so NAC wants to spend no effort at this time
    on NDU.

If you want to load firmware for the DEMFA, send mail to me and I can
    probably help you.

The latest release of LASER console should have included an LFU that supports
DEMFA updates. Other ALPHA platforms will also ( someday ) include utilities
that will update the other FDDI adapter. ( DEFZA, DEFTA, DEFAA etc...)

960.5Which utility for Alpha 3000's ?LEMAN::BRUNNERWed May 26 1993 11:4510
Hi and thanks for all answers.

My question was about loading DEFCN concentrators on a ring where only
some Alpha Sandpiper 3000-400 and one 3000-500 as server are connected.
That ring is installed and just about to start in production. May be
someday we will have to download the DEFZA's. So what would be the tool
    to use ?

    Best regards
    Walter

You can contact John Caporal(leddev::) to find out availability of an Alpha
update utility in that space. But I know it's not available yet....

I've translated DECNDU just fine and upgraded a DEFZA with no problems.
