876.1 | where's the F621 docu Online?? | ZUR01::HOTZ | Gregor; MCS, NaC Support, Schweiz | Fri Feb 26 1993 05:19 | 19 |
| Hi Naoki,
I don't know why it is the way it is. I let others comment on that.
But the SERVICE_INSTRUCTIONS docu page 2-7 (see below) tell
you how to remove or change the key. It also says "optional PHY A, PHY B,
and PHY M keys ship separatly". I wonder, did they ship with the module?
Why is there an M key?? I'd say its not used.
LINGO::JANUS_DOC1:[HWDOCS.RELEASE.NEWPORT]service_instructions.ps
well, just tried it. I get
-RMS-E-PRV, insufficient privilege or file protection violation
it worked last week. I've deleted it after I copied and printed it.
EK-A0600-PR is the docu number.

| Interesting.
Who makes those connectors that have fixed keys? I have never heard of any
before -- all the ones I can remember have selectable keys.
Note that you can always use S connectors: those fit into any receptacle.

876.3 | The prastic key could remove but .. | EWBV06::IDO | | Mon Mar 01 1993 23:04 | 9 |
| Greg and Paul,
Thanks for your info. I have checked several DECNISs with DNSAF. All of
those DNSAFs have always S-Type receptacles regardless SA or DAS.
I could remove the prastic key from the receptacle to make the port fits
all of types, but It is still problem if newport uses S key for DAS ports
from now on.

876.4 | DNSAF MIC keying will be fixed ! | REOTN3::JUNO::STRATFORD | | Tue Mar 02 1993 17:00 | 29 |
| Naoki,
clearly this is wrong.
DECNIS DNSAF multimode options using MIC connectors should be correctly
keyed for each PHY port.
This was an omission in our manufacturing assembly process.
The MODPMD daughter cards are built in Augusta and fitted with the "S"
key. They are then shipped along with all the other key types to our
manufacturing plant in Galway where the rest of the DNSAF module is
built and assembled.
The MODPMD cards are assembled but unfortunately the MIC keying is not
changed for the DAS variants.
Whoops.
The assembly process is being modified and all future DNSAF will be
correctly keyed.
The comment regarding the MODPMD spares is correct for the same reason
as above. The MODPMD comes with all the keys you might need. The
replacement instructions show you how to remove and install the correct
keying when replacing a multimode MODPMD card in DNSAF.
