I have a customer who is consolidating many old Digital systems into a cluster of 2 7000's. This
system will need to be highly reliable and will have high I/O demands placed on it. The customer
is planning to put 1 FDDI controller on the system.
They want a failover capability to another FDDI connection that is dual-homed to
another concentrator. Their question is whether it would be better to have 2 SAS devices
or 1 DAS device. Do we have plans for a DAS XMI device?
What are the pro's and cons of 2 SAS devices as opposed to 1 DAS device? If they are
running TCP on one device and DECnet on the other, can the 7000 failover to the other
device upon failure?
