841.0. "FDDI Cluster without MDF license?" by FROCKY::ERIKSSON () Fri Jan 22 1993 11:35
One of our customers wants to split a cluster between two computer rooms within
the same building. The cable distance ist approx. 60 m, so we cant use CI.
Obviously, we could use FDDI as a cluster interconnect (the systems are VAX 7000)
by adding the necessary hardware. The customer just wants the extra distance, and
not a MDF cluster (after all, its still one site). My question is:
Is the license ("right to use") FDDI as a cluster interconnect part of the normal
VAXcluster license, or do we need some additional licenses/software to make this
run?
Best regards
Thomas

| Ask in the ISEQ::MDF conference for questions on Multicenter Data
Facility. VMS licensing policies are not controlled by FDDI.
(The answer is "No". No MDF license is required.)
