I have a customer who is planning to connect a HP9000 to a DECconcentrator 500 with an HP J2157A board. The J2157A, according to the glossy, is a SAS connection that is fully compliant with the ISO 9314 standard and SMT 6.2. There are ULTRIX servers attached to the DEConcentrator 500 via DEFCN-TA and he will be adding a DEFCN-NF for the HP. So, his questions are: - does the DECconcentrator 500 work with the HP J2157A? - is anybody else running this? - do we anticipate any problems with this? Any information is much appreciated.

ANY fully standards compliant FDDI station SAS or DAS should be possible to connect to the M-ports of the DECconcentrator 500. I don't know HP's cards but HP should know how to comply with a standard so I would go ahead with this. Torbjorn
801.2 | ANSI vs ISO | TROOA::LEONG | Thu Nov 26 1992 16:38 | 8
Thanks for the response. The thing that concerns me about the HP material is the fact that we mention that we are compliant to the ANSI standard and HP mentions that they follow ISO. Are there any differences between ANSI and ISO standards ? Do we know of any interoperability issues between the two?
