I'me trying to connect two DECstations 5000/133 with each a DEFZA-CA using thinwire for a show (coming around very fast I might add). I was told that the two stations can be connected back to back without a concentrator. Is this true? If yes how do we physically plug them (like normal thin 802.3)? And finally, is it a normal TCP/IP configuration (like the 'ifconfig' for a ln0)? Thanks a lot for any help, (the show is next week!) /jean

746.1 | Thinwire S-S is not supported | LEVERS::J_FITZGERALD | Fri Oct 16 1992 11:12 | 9 | |
For thinwire FDDI we do not support S-S connections. You must always use a concentrator. The reasoning behind this is due to the physical link detection scheme required by the design. By the way, this configuration is supported in FDDI. Its just not supported with the current copper implementations(STP &TW)... John Fitzgerald |
