726.0. "DEMFA installation problem" by DMAFSV::FRANK (Frank N. Thomsen, @DMA, 857-3625) Mon Sep 28 1992 09:22

	I have problems installing a DEMFA in an VAX 6000.

	With the XMI to H3063 internal cable inserted in the XMI
        backplane (slot 4 - cable not connected to the H3063), the
	power goes down after about two seconds. It looks like an
	overcurrent condition.

        Looking at the cable I should think it's an one-to-one straight
        through cable, but measuring resistance between sockets in the
        connector reveals shorts between several wires.

        Cable P/N 17-02488-02  Rev. A01

        Wiev "into" the connector:

         V                  |key |

        +--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+

        Short between: 1-2-4-7-10-20-23-26-30 (which, as far as I can tell
         translates to XMI D2 pin 6-9-12-14-15-31-35-38-41)

        Is this ok?

        I have ordered a new cable, but in the meantime I want to know
        if anyone has seen similar problems?

        Maybe someone has a schematic of this cable...?

        /Frank
