658.0. "DEMFA, DEFCN and DECelms" by HAMSUP::BBURGER () Fri Jul 24 1992 12:24
Hi,
Config. 6410 with VMS 5.4-3 ,DEMFA ,DEFCN , and CISCO boxes on FDDI.
DECelms V 1.2 .
There is no search on FX device in ELMS$STARTUP.COM
Is it possible to manage the DEFCN with the FXA device ?
"Start list" are not posible, after editing the ELMS$STARTUP.COM
to use the FXA device.
"SDA> show lan/full" shows only FXA dev. with SCA (60-07) and
DECNET (60-03) but no 60-02 MOP-RC.
The problem is : Multicast dest. addr. of AB-00-00-02-00-00
are not passed from the CISCO Boxes.
So the Customer can not manage the DEFCN.
2nd. switching the 'service' on , on circ MFA-0 under NCP
the circ will stay on status -onsyncronizing.
Is this not supported on DEMFA's ??
Thanks,
Joerg

| If I remember well, you can define a logical name
which will allow you to use "unknown LAN device".
It could be
$ define/sys NMS_ELMS$UNA FXA0
but you must check the current one before.
