650.0. "Losing TRAP ADDRESS on rebooted DECbridge 620" by CSC32::ORTIZ () Fri Jul 17 1992 18:02

I have a specialist that has a customer with a DECbridge 620. He sets
a trap address on the DECbridge and it works fine. He reboots the
DECbridge and the trap address goes away. All other filters that were
setup are still there, so they don't have NVRAM set to go back to factory
defaults. The DECbrige 620 is at firmware 1.2.

    Any help would be appreciated...

How are you setting the trap address? Are you using DECmcc? DECmsu? A SNMP
NMS?

V1.2 doesn't support setting the TRAP address with the RBMS protocol, only
through the SNMP protocol.

I was using the MSU ELMS 'ADD TRAP ADDRESS' function which I thought was
executing properly because it showed up correctly when I examined it using
the MSU ELMS 'Show Bridge Char' function.

Thanks,

It's unfortunate that setting the trap address with MSU appears to work. The
address never gets written into NVRAM. That's why you saw the address go away
after the power outage.

The release notes for V1.2 does state that setting the trap address through the DECmcc MSU Elms Interface or the DECmcc
DECmcc MSU Elms Interface or the DECmcc Bridge Access Module is no longer
supported.
