    I've got a question from customer asking the standardization of SMT.
    Is there any update on the finalization of the SMT standard in ANSI?

	Yes... The FDDI committee has created a new version, V7.1, which should be a whole lot closer to technical completion. We'll know very soon whether there is in fact general agreement on this version. If so, it will still be some time before there is an official, final, standard -- but that's primarily an administrative process at that point, not a technical one. If there is NOT agreement at this point, then all bets are off. I'm expecting the former... paul
