597.0. "IP config for FDDI install?" by RDVAX::HAYES (Bernard Hayes, Pilgrim Proj Ldr) Thu Jun 04 1992 16:18
Hello all,
I'm testing to ensure that my groups' mods to Ultrix didn't break FDDI.
So, my configuration is:
Ethernet---DS5000/200--FDDI--DS5000/200
The kernel on both DS5000s sees the device, and I've run the ifconfig
line in my rc.local on both machines specifying fza0 right after the
lines specifying ln0.
There seems to be no traffic going over the FDDI. My initial questions are:
1. Do I have to run netconfig to turn on IP routing in some way?
2. What other software things to I have to do that I, in my ignorance, have
not done?
Both machines have been using IP with Ethernet for awhile, so I know that
the systems are good. They are running Ultrix V4.2a.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Bernard Hayes

| What addresses did your give them (compared to the ethernet devices)?
Since each interface under ULTRIX has a separate IP address, you must
explicitly choose the adddress of the remote DEFZA to force traffic
across it.
