On a DECbridge 520, firmware rev. 2.9.0, software rev. 1.1.0 If after setting an IP address (ie: 130.98.3.134), you reset the DECbridge from DECmcc : mcc> reset bridge clbrgaa The bridge reboots and is working fine as a bridge but you are now unable to set a parameter on it or to reset it again through DECmcc. Each time, you receive an "Invalid Password" error message. Nobody set a Password on the DECbridge. If you set a Password on the DECbridge 520 at the same time you set the IP address (ie: password = system), the problem is still the same after rebooting the DECbridge 520. 7 x DECbridge 520 have this problem. 12 x DECbridge 620 are running WITHOUT this problem . Is this a known problem ? . Is there any way to display the NVRAM location containing the password ? (mail on sos6::grossetete if restricted diffusion) . Is v.1.2 available to test it ? Patrick

588.1 | Get Version 1.2 | QUIVER::POULIN | Thu Jun 04 1992 09:37 | 24
Patrick, There is no way to display the NVRAM location containing the password. If the password is lost, the bridge must be reset with defaults. We are in the process of attempting to reproduce this problem in our lab (we are DECbridge development). In the meantime, I suggest that you upgrade the firmware to Version 1.2, which is the latest as of this date (June 4, 1992), and try to reproduce the problem. I would also suggest reporting this problem through normal channels if you still see it in Version 1.2. We will post our results here as soon as possible. John
588.2 | Worst with v.1.2 | PRSSOS::GROSSETETE | Mon Jun 22 1992 11:58 | 12
7 x DECbridge 520 have been upgraded with v.1.2 Problem is more critical with v.1.2 since after setting the IP address, DECbridge 520 never reboots and continuoulsy reset itself. This could seem normal if the NVRAM is corrupted and NVRAM CRC is bad ! Problem will be escaladated through official channel (CLD). Patrick
588.3 | Problem fixed in new version 1.2.1 | QUIVER::KRISHNA | Thu Jul 30 1992 19:10 | 8
The problem has been reproduced and it was due to a bug in the operational firmware that was causing the bridge to reset. The bug has been fixed and there is a new version of firmware V1.2.1 for the DECbridge 5XX series. For more information on this new version of firmware contact Mike Piechota in the Support Organization. He can be reached at SASE::PIECHOTA Krishna |
