I'm wondering about the need and feasability of putting DECbridge 500 functionality into the DEChub. A single or double height module, doesn't really matter. It's just that one of my customers is looking at replacing their 40 SERs of DELNIs, DS200s and repeaters with the DEChub line. Their backbones are getting loaded and they will start pulling fiber to each SER. If we could put each SER on FDDI and a 10/100 bridge in the hub they could give a separate 10Mb to each floor. This would also be a good counter to Cabletron since it has started distributing brochures on their hub mounted 10/100 bridge. Also I don't think we can afford to wait until the next generation hub comes out. Does anyone else see the need for a 10/100 bridge in the DEChub line? dmm cross posted on ETHERNET notes

Yes, and we're looking into things of this sort. No specifics available yet. paul | |||||

It would be nice to know where that's going and when the design is started. I know it will take time once the project is started. I will have a customer that would make a great test site by that time. dmm |
