529.0. "Trouble getting LAT and LAST to run over FDDI (DEMFA)" by BOSNET::COLUMBUS () Tue Apr 07 1992 15:59

This note has been entered in a few different notes files...

I have a customer adding a DEMFA FDDI controller to his VAX 6410. Once
installed, we got decnet up no problem, but both LAT and LAST were a
problem. We tried a few things, but ended up with the system crashing
when we turned LAT off...not sure why!

I cannot find any documentation on what are the proper software
procedures to switch from ethernet to FDDI for LAT and LAST.

Can anyone out there tell me what I should do to route LAT and LAST
traffic to the FDDI contrioller?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Well,.. for the moment I'll asume you are getting some help from the
    other "postings"...

But please,. if you spend more than a couple days with the problem,
then you should collect the dump and file a QAR with it for me
to look at. If it gets to the point where I have a dump, if
my driver is at fault I will fix it. If its something else, at
least having the dump on hand lets us start on it.

529.2I think this is just a case of the correct method to point to the interfaceBOSNET::COLUMBUSWed Apr 08 1992 15:398
Thanks for the reply...

At this point, I'd just like to know what COM files should be edited and how
they should be edited to properly point LAT and LAST traffic out the DEMFA onto
FDDI.

No... really... Bill is right -- you should QAR this. Looking for a
workaround is fine, but if the system crashes there's a bug and if you
can reproduce it you can help get it fixed sooner.
