492.0. "A very easy questions" by ISIDRO::TELESOP (The great and only Platas) Fri Mar 06 1992 06:43

A very easy questions:

1. Does DECbridge 600 have Thinwire ports to connect Ethernet?

2. Is bridging permorded among the three Ethernet ports?

Thanks for your help.

No - I just looked at a photo of the DECbridge 600 and the three-port
module only has three AUI-ports, that is for Tranceiver cables.
( The DECbridge 510 give a choice of THinWire or AUI)

Bridging between Ethernet segments are supported. That is why we sell
the version called DECbridge 600 with no FDDI connection.
DECbridge 610/620 connect three Ethernets to FDDI.

Thanks for your answer, but dou you mean that bridging is perfomed
between FDDI ann Ethernet and also among the ethernet ports?

    Thanks again for your help.

Bridging is performed between *all* ports present on the DECbridge
6XX models. Thus, if a model 600 (no FDDI port), bridging occurs
between all 3 ethernet ports. If an FDDI port is present, bridging
occurs between all 4 ports (ethernet & FDDI). Makes for some
interesting ELMS (MSU ELMS) filtering commands....
