445.0. "network management" by FA18::JOLLEY (This space left intentionally blank) Tue Jan 14 1992 14:34

	How remote is remote?

	If I am using a DECconcentrator stand-alone and don't
	need the "A" and "B" ports, then I don't order the
	Network Management Card.

	But this module provides "remote" network management.

	In a stand-alone config., what network mgt. is available?

	From a workstation connected to the DEFCN (remote?),
	what network mgt. is available?

	Will the DEFCN respond to SNMP SHOWs from one of the
	locally connected workstations?

					thanks,

445.1no A/B card means no MACQUIVER::PARISEAULuc PariseauTue Jan 14 1992 16:288
	Without the A/B card the DEFCN doesn't have a MAC. Without
	a MAC the DEFCN can not receive ANY (SNMP, MOP, etc.) network
	frames. You can still manage it via OBM but not SNMP.

	"Remote" means anywhere on the network.

445.3OBM functionality?VCSESU::WADEBill Wade, VAXc Systems & Support EngWed Mar 18 1992 12:024
    Is there any documentation on what functions/commands are available
    from teh OBM for the DECconcentrator and DECbridges? Can you set
    protocol filtering for a DECbridge through OBM?

445.4OBM SET Menu and DocWARP5::MCCLOUDDennis McCloud - SOA ANCThu Apr 02 1992 16:3317
    The OBM functions and commands are documented in the new Installation
    manual for the DECconcentrator 500. Order number is EK-DEFCN-IN-004.
    Chapter 4 contains the screens for the OBM access. Looking at the SET
    Menu the entries are:
    	1) IP Address
    	2) Gateway Address
    	3) Requested TRT
    	4) LEM Threshold
    	5) TVX
    	6) Update Switch
    	7) Ring Purger Enable
    	8) Password
    	9) Defaults and Reset
    	0) Restricted Token Timeout
    	e) Exit

    Looks like no protocol filtering access.
