Is anyone willing to talk to me about splicing multimode 62.5/125
fiber? I have a customer who needs to cut the middle out of 21 pieces
of fiber and splice new middles into the fiber for temporary
connections. They are running Digital fiber Ethernet bridges with a
current loss of -2.4db.
This plant was installed for the future intention of FDDI speeds. It is
a small campus. If after the temporary connections are removed and only
2 cables are spliced to re-form each cable, will they still have
sufficicent db loss to run FDDI speeds.
Please call me at (908) 562-4100 if you can offer definitive insight
or recommendations or send me mail at KYOA::KOCH
THANKS,
Ted

Ted,
We at the Canadian Technology Centre have done extensive evaluation of
splicing for MM and SM fibers, as well as cable and connector testing.
I can offer you advice as well as reports documenting our studies. I
can be reached at POLAR::HOFFE or DTN 621-4607.
