| According to the NaC Buyer's Guide that's all you need. I would have
guessed that you also would need an Applications Processor board
upgrade as well, but apparently not.

Thats what I thought also, but I guess the AP2 module is already
included in the 600 bridge.

As you've surmised, you won't need to order an AP2, as it's already
there. However, you WILL need to order 1 multimode loopback
(12-32005-01). The -UP has one, but since the DAS module has two MIC
receptacles, you need two loopbacks. (Most -UP upgrades were forecast
to come from customers with the SAS module; that's why two loopbacks
weren't included in the kit.)
Also, note that these upgrades are not customer installable. Unless
your customer has technically trained people who are familiar with the
procedures and equipment used for handling static-sensitive devices,
I'd STRONGLY recommend that Digital installation be included in this
upgrade.

I be doing the installation, and I have oodles of loopbacks since I
already have 6 concentrators and 2 decbridge 500's.
This poses another marketing issue. The 620 bridge has a list price of
$34,000 dollars, but I can "Create the same thing" by purchasing an 600
bridge for $21,000 and adding the upgrade #2 for $7600 which gives me a
620 bridge at a list cost of $28600. I'll take a savings of $5400
dollars any day, so will our customers.

355.6 | loopback connectors, their use? | VAXRIO::ROLF | Vaporware Design Specialist | Tue Oct 29 1991 07:26 | 13 |
| I am just updating myself with this notefile and came across mention of
"loopbacks" in an earlier reply to this topic.
Are these loopbacks strictly for testing or do they have to be in place
on any unused port for normal operation?
Sorry, we don't have any FDDI equipment in the country yet. I'm just
trying to learn!
Thanks
