I have a customer who is doing the following:
518bridge *****2 pair of single mode fiber **** 618bridge
There is a singel extended ethernet off of the 518 and three
single segment ethernets off of the 618. Now later the
configuration will become:
5xxconcentrator ***** same 2 pair fiber ***** 618bridge
The 518brige and initially another 5xx bridge will be
connected to the concentrator.
The question is, can the Single mode cards used in the bridge
be used in the concentrator for the remote link? If not can
they be traded for the multimode cards that would be used for
the local link?
Thanks,
Norm

No. The current products do not support a "modular PMD."

No, not traded, but possibly upgraded. The DEFEB-UP option can
upgrade the 518 into a 520. Details are in the 5/28 SU.
