Looking through this notefile I didn't find a pointer to a report (or publication) describing the results of testing our equipment against other vendors FDDI. What is the status of this, is there (will there be..) a report describing the results of these interop tests? I'm asking this because I'm in a situation that I have to connect a Fibermux 5500 (DAS bridge MM) to our concentrator (WC 500), which isn't working out very well... I tried to setup the following topology +================+ +=============+ | Conc 500 a |-----------|b Fibermux | | m b |-----------|a 5500 | +================+ MM +=============+ | | | | Ethernet | -------------------- +=============+ | DECbridge | | 500 | +=============+ | Ethernet ---------------------- The result: The Fibermux and the concentrator don't see each other on the ring (on PHY level). So I'm very curious if there is someone out there who has tried to connect these Fibermux bridges to Digital's Concentrators. Rob

Do you have more details? What lights show on the DEC side? What does ELMS have to say about the status and counters for those ports? paul

Also, is the Fibermux a translating bridge? Shouldn't matter to the concentrator, but the DECbridge is sure gonna care! Bob

Sorry, it took me so long.. Connecting the fibermux to the concentrator immediatly turns on the red led on the A port of our concentrator. I don't have the exact status and counters of the concentrator ports (I will check those next week). .2 : The Dutch PTT (who is reselling the bridges) claims that the Fibermux bridges are translating. (We didn't have the opportunity to check that out...) Rob

A solid red PHY LED indicates a Line Confidence Test failure. Perhaps you have a faulty cable? |
