244.0. "Is this a valid configuration" by JAYJAY::KORNS () Wed Apr 24 1991 19:13

Attached is a FDDI configuration diagram which I'm trying to get a
verification on. The core of the question is "Do you have to have
a ring or dual ring in a FDDI configuration."

The config below is simply two concentrators connected in a cascaded
fashion using SMF. There is no dual ring. A competitor has said that
they don't think this is valid. Two questions:

	a) Do you have to have a dual-ring

	b) have I configured the concentrators below correctly
		(ie; the B-port of concentrator #1 plugged into
		an M-port of concentrator #2?)

Dave Korns,

244.1I think your competition is wet. WLW::PAYDAY::SEITZLOST-IN-SPACEThu Apr 25 1991 09:3813

No. a physical dual ring is not required in FDDI. For all practical purposes,
the dual ring is located inside Concentrator #2.

It looks good to me.
