Are these specs online in the US? Or is there any way internally
to get a hard copy?
thanx,

| Approved ANSI specs are subject to copyright. For that reason they are not
available online, and you have to get a real copy. (Don't run someone
else's copy through a copier.)

225.8 | FDDI Specifications (SMT/PMD/PHY/MAC) | ZTOIS1::VISTA | Renato VISTA, SIS Strasbourg, France | Wed Feb 26 1992 10:57 | 12 |
| Hello Yoshihisa,
I just read in FDDI notes (MOUSE::FDDI) that you have or may be that you
know how to obtain the FDDI specifications about SMT, MAC, PHY and PMD (because
I'm working in a DECmcc/VMS V1.1 + SNMP AM V1.1 with FDDI & DEC private MIBs on
a FDDI customer platform, and I need some added information about SNMP variables and their meanings). Is it possible to obtain those specifications ?
Thank you very much for your help !

| For SNMP FDDI questions you should talk to Anil Rijhsinghani (LEVERS::ANIL).
Apart from that...
1. MAC, PHY, and PMD are all published standards and should be bought from
ANSI or ISO (given that you're in France, getting the ISO editions is
probably easier).
2. SMT is in draft; a new draft is due to come out in about a month. We have
copies here of the previous draft.
3. You should get a copy of the DEC internal "FDDI architecture spec" in
FILES::NET$ARCH:[APPROVED.DEC_PROPRIETARY]FDDI_V1_0_1.PS.

225.10 | Cannot get FDDI_V1_0_1 file... | ZTOIS1::VISTA | Renato VISTA, SIS Strasbourg, France | Thu Feb 27 1992 03:14 | 13 |

Hello Paul, Hello Yoshihisa,
Thank you for information. So, I'll ask to EUROPE::STANDARDS the copy
of ISO documentations.
About the FDDI_V1_0_1.PS, I've just tried to copy it but I've not
enough privileges to get it via DECnet account. Paul, could you send me
that file directly (VAXmail ZTOIS1::VISTA) ?
Thank you for you help !

| As standards documents are protected by copyright they should not be copied
without specific permission.
ISO standards are generally distributed by national standards organizations
- in France this is AFNOR.
