204.0. "Chipcom query" by IDEFIX::HEMMINGS (Lanterne Rouge) Thu Feb 14 1991 03:52

	I can't see any reason why the configuration shown schematically below
shouldn't work. Are there any gotchas??

I'm no ORnet expert... So long as the FDDI side of the DB500 is done
to FDDI rules, and the Ethernet side meets Ethernet rules, you're all set!

    you don't sho any fiber optic transcievers (FOTs) in your picture.
    note that you need one to connect to fiber optic star to the lb100/200
    since the fiber optic signalling is different between the devices.
    that is to say all of the bridges in your picture are the local
    variety. don't forget to watch your network diameter off the chipcom
    star as well. (3000m)

    	We run that configuration here in MRO1. Chipcom stuff works very
      well. If you want more info or perhaps a tour send mail to me.
