195.0. "58x0 XMI-FDDI TCP/IP Support (x-posted in DNT)" by BUDDIE::KORNS () Mon Jan 14 1991 16:03
I am looking for information on our plans, if any, to provide FDDI support
under Ultrix for the XMI-FDDI controller (DEC FDDIcontroller 400 or DEXFA).
While I see plenty of plans for XMI support for DECnet & clusters under
VMS on 6000 & 9000 systems, I don't see specifics for DECsystem 58x0 (Risc)
XMI system and TCP/IP support.
I see that Ultrix V4.1 (or is it 4.2) support FDDI on the 5000 and the
XMI-FDDI controller is due in March, but does that combination mean/imply
Ultrix-TCP/IP over XMI-FDDI? I suspect not.
Are we the "Performance Leader in Open Networks" (ie; Risc/Unix/TCP/IP) or not?
Any product manager names who might know would be appreciated.

| OSG is not planning to support the DEMFA on any XMI platform (VAX or RISC).
