I don't know if engineering can help me with this??? We have customers that need to run TCP/IP over FDDI. I know Decnet runs over FDDI with the XMI adapters (for 6000s). For similiar configuration we need TCP/IP to run over the XMI adapters. And the 6000s communicate with the front end workstations (DecStation 5000s) which also need FDDI adapters. When will UCX (now called TCP/IP for VMS) have drivers for FDDI. We are gonna lose about US$8M just because we ain't got the product! Regards Mohan

I believe UCX uses the standard drivers rather than using special drivers of its own (in general, NO sane networking product provides its own drivers on VMS or Unix). Therefore, it should work as soon as the support is in the OS (i.e., same time as DECnet). For specifics you should talk to product management. paul | |||||

re: .1 I'm 90% sure that Paul's premise is incorrect: Functioning UCX will not come for free with a working DECnet-VAX FDDI driver; UCX support is not committed at this time. Other alternatives are being explored. Contact George (DELNI::G_NIELSEN) Nielsen for additional info. |
