It is my current understanding that TCP/IP running over FDDI has problems. My understanding is that it is with the network type field in the header. Can anyone confirm this?

See note 113; there are currently problems with Sun's implementation of ARP, they adhered to rfc1103, which is being updated. The work-around is to put manual entries in the arp tables. Note: the sun nodes can arp just fine between two nodes both on the FDDI; the problem arises only when arping across a transparent FDDI-Ethernet bridge, such as DEC's DECbridge 500. Chuck |
