72.0. "Fibronics out DEC in?" by PCOJCT::BMURPHY () Fri Jun 01 1990 16:53

    I have a customer in N.Y., Brookhaven Natl. Labs that has three
    Fibronics 10/100 Bridges on an existing FDDI ring.  BNL is currently
    awaiting upgrades/swapouts of these encapsulating bridges by fibronics
    to FDDI spec. translating ones.
    
    Questions:
    
    Does anyone have info regarding timeframes/pricing of the Fibronics
    upgrade/swapout?
    
    Can we be competitive against this installed base?
    
    There is potential for much future business here since there are many
    LANs at this site that are looking to "jump on" the FDDI.  Do we have
    any competitive programs that approach this type of situation from a
    pricing as well as a technological point of view?
    
    I just read an article in Lightwave describing a large FDDI
    implementation at NASA utilizing Fibronics, they are waiting for the
    translating bridges..... seems in no big hurry but they are waiting..
    
    Any one out there in this situation ?  any comments appreciated
