47.0. "Broadcast/Multicast" by SDSVAX::SWEENEY (Patrick Sweeney in New York) Mon Apr 02 1990 18:44

    There is a ETHERNET broadcast address FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF, and half of the
    48-bit ETHERNET address space is allocated to multicast addresses.

    Does FDDI have a similar data link layer broadcast or multicast
    capability?

47.1Same addressing applies.KONING::KONINGNI1D @FN42eqTue Apr 03 1990 14:346
Yes. The same addresses apply to Ethernet and to FDDI. (In fact, the
"Ethernet" addresses apply to all the 802 family LANs in theory. In
practice, 802.5 implementations have screwed it up horribly. But FDDI
has managed to avoid those screwups.)
