There is a ETHERNET broadcast address FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF, and half of the 48-bit ETHERNET address space is allocated to multicast addresses. Does FDDI have a similar data link layer broadcast or multicast capability?

Yes. The same addresses apply to Ethernet and to FDDI. (In fact, the "Ethernet" addresses apply to all the 802 family LANs in theory. In practice, 802.5 implementations have screwed it up horribly. But FDDI has managed to avoid those screwups.) paul |
