I'm interested in DEC's official and local practices concerning who lays the fibre. Could people please enter information concerning the following * Do we have any system of appoving installers of cable, * Do we have approved acceptance procedures * Who maintains (eg tests, changes etc) the cable * What recommendations do we make re cable provision (eg backbone only, how many cables, etc) * What are acceptable points of demarcation (eg fibre only, fibre + Third party concentrators, etc) * Are these local office, country or corporate decisions? * Do we treat cable as one issue (eg DECsite) and FDDI as something completely seperate (eg EIS) * anything else relating to cable provision issues Many thanks in advance Peter

Contact your local NWSS sales support. NWSS has been providing cable services for several years, including fiber, and will continue to provide this. MJS

Peter: .1 is absolutely correct. We at NWSS will design, supply materials for, install, and maintain the FDDI cableplant. We will also supply non-DEC products if needed - for example if a customer needs an FDDI to Token Ring bridge and wants a single vendor solution. Patrick
