33.0. "QPSX (802.6) in Australia." by TROPPO::RICKARD (Doug Rickard - network junkie.) Thu Feb 01 1990 21:12
QPSX (802.6) is a 500 Mbit/sec fibre-optic MAN system developed by the
University of Western Australia.
Telecom Australia, the national telecom provider in Australia is
supporting QPSX extensively, and the company QPSX is a joint venture
company between Telecom Australia and the University of Western
Australia.
Telecom is currently planning the introduction of a QPSX based system
called 'Fastpac' to be available nationally. They are also planning a
B-ISDN service at 150 Mbits/sec to be based on QPSX.
I have just received 2 reprints of some papers given by Telecom
Australia. One is 32 pages long, the other 12 pages. Hard copy only.
I can make a limited number of photo-copies available to anyone
interested.
Doug Rickard.

(Incidentally, the imminent release of QPSX here has meant that most of
our customers have not shown any real interest in FDDI at all !!)

| That's funny. I always thought QPSX (pronounced q-p-sex) was the
way we got more qp dolls. ;^)
