Request for participants for an early review of
FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) Concepts Course.
*********************************************************
This course is being designed to familiarize the Customer Service
Engineer with fiber optic and FDDI technology. The FDDI Concepts
Course will be presented as a video-based, self paced instruction
course. This course will be a prerequisite course for the upcoming
FDDI Installation and Maintenance Course. The following sections of
the course will be presented.
o Fiber optic technology overview
- Lightwave theory
- Light propagation
o Fiber optic cables
- Fiber characteristics
- Fiber structure
- Fiber operation
- Fiber types
- Optical & mechanical parameters
- Cable Types
The presentation should last approximately one hour. You will
then be asked to provide feedback to a Quality Assurance Consultant.
Student qualifications -- The CSE that attends this course should
know how to maintain Digital network devices. This prerequisite can
be be obtained from either field experience or by attending the Base-
band Ethernet Course.
This early review will be presented on Monday, November 20,
from 9:30 to 12:00 a.m., at 12 Crosby Drive Bedford MA.
