    To answer Chris' question in note 7.4, I've started this note.
    
    Basically, the Fiber_optic_lans conference is a discussion of all fiber
    optic lan technologies, including such products as ORNET and FDDI. The
    purported purpose of that conference is for business, sales, and
    technical questions. I've seen very little activity on that conference,
    even from the moderators. Also, the moderators are "Marketing types"
    with Engineering thrown in. This conference is run by the Customer
    Services organization as is Ethernet. I see it as complementary to
    FIBER_OPTIC_LANS just as the DNT file is to ETHERNET.
    
    Notes of significant interest placed here will be circulated to the
    entire Customer Services (CSSE) Team. We hope to use this as an
    informal vehicle to get the FDDI info into the Field.
