There are two types of stacking unit where one has AUI port(DETAX)
and the other (DETRX) don't.
Part Numbers Order Code
DETAX-MA DETAX-UE/KGR
DETRX-SE DETRX-SE
Configuration Information.
Use thinwire for stringing all the units in the string.
When you order stackable units they come with a short piece of thinwire
coax for the intermodule connection.
AUI can be used through the DETAX to a backbone connection. This is only
supported on the DECrepeater 90-T16
The rule on not using the thinwire and AUI simultaneously
is applicable to the DECrepeater 90TS not the 90T-16. The 90T-16 was
designed to support the AUI to the backbone and thinwire to the stack
at the same time.
The DETAX AUI stacking rear cover is only supported with the 90T-16.
While it is true that the 90TS has an available AUI rear cover, this
rear cover is not part of the Multistack system. The 90TS' AUI
rear cover is not supported on the 90T-16.
It is possible to use the DETAX with any other 90 module for power and
management.
If you use a 90TS in the DETAX with an AUI the AUI will not work
It is not designed to work that way and is not supported.
The DECrepeater 90FS, the DECrepeater 90TS and the DECagent 90 are the only
modules that are capable of managing modules in the Multistack.
The maximum length of the Multistack System Management bus is 420 meters.
The only way to manage a multi-stack system full of DECrepeater 90T-16's is
using a UTP cable as part of the management bus. The DECrepeater 90T-16
does not support an IP address therefore management over the ethernet is
not possible.
Technical Information.
The Digital MultiStack System stacking unit (DETRX-S*) includes the
following components:
o The stackable backplane includes 2 RJ45 connections to enable SNMP
management, a 5/12 volt power connection, and a stackable position
identifier dial. An optional AUI connection is available on the DETAX-U*
and can only operate with the DECrepeater 90T-16. The stackable
backplane also anchors Digital 90 series devices in the stacking unit.
o A 2.5 inch in-height resin stackable shelf enables physical stacking of
stackable hubs, houses the 5/12 volt power supply, and provides a cable
management harness.
o A 5/12 volt autosensing power supply allocates the appropriate power to
each respective Digital 90 series module. All previous and current hub
based and standalone Digital 90 series modules work as a stackable hub,
but must use the power supply accompanying the stacking unit.
o To simplify and streamline stackable hub assembly, each stacking unit
includes a T-Connector, a ThinWire terminator, a .6 meter ThinWire coax
network cable, a .2 meter UTP management cable, and mounting brackets
and screws.
