1037.0. "Any experiences with FNIC?" by IAGO::tay1dhcp96-192.tay1.dec.com::CUMMINGS (Relax, have a homebrew!) Fri Feb 21 1997 08:29

Has anyone done any business with Financial Network
Investment Corp (FNIC) and/or Ed Crisci? I'll be leaving
Digital next week after 13 years and am planning to take
my pension and 401k money with me. I've had an initial
meeting with Ed, who seemed very pleasant, regarding
reinvesting this money. I'd be interested in hearing from
anyone who has dealt with this company.

I don't know anything about Ed, but I did talk to the other person
there (I don't remember his name off hand) last year when evaluating
where to possibly put my money. Their commission schedules, at least
then, seemed to be more in line with he full service crowd than the
    discounters.

Depending on what level you intend to manage your own investments
(funds, individual stocks, etc) it might do to look at Waterhouse
and/or Schwab. You can set up an IRA with them, and have access to no
load or load type funds, individual stocks, and money market. If you
tend to think you will do stocks/bonds/money market only, with your own
research, a deep discounter might be appropriate.

Personally, given my investing style and participation I would probably
go with Waterhouse or Schwab or some equivalent level of mid level
    service broker.

In your discussions, though, I assume there has been talk of funds.
Make sure you have access to some ov the majors such as Fidelity,
Vanguard, etc. As well as some minors. I have found that tying to one
organization (even a huge one) is not necessarily best. Variety, and
    mobility, help.

I've only had one meeting so far to discuss what
services they offer. We are meeting again next week
to discuss portfolio options. I plan to get more
info at that time as to what the "real" costs will be. I've
opened up an account, but haven't yet deposited any
funds. It'll be a month or two before I get the funds
from Digital so I've got a little time to investigate
further.
